(3.8cm tall) Here is a gentle and happy Jizo sculpture to bring some peace and contentment to your days. He feels very calm, like he really knows how to breathe.
Jizo is made of stoneware clay, fired once, glazed for peace and tranquility, and then raku fired for the beautiful effects of smoke and flame.
Jizo is a Japanese Shinto spirit, a kami who found his way to Japan through Buddhism. He is a guardian of women, children, and travellers; he comforts us through grief and bereavement.
Through my work, I hope to bring a little nature, peace, and gentleness into the world. I make all of my pieces entirely by hand with only non-toxic materials.
