Happy Jizo joy round raku sculpture

Here is a wonderful little ball of Shinto Jizo for a kamidana or shrine. He's so full of happiness, love, and joy! He feels like a true friend to light up even your darkest days or maybe a guardian to help you feel safer in a crazy world. This one is 2.5cm tall.

He's made of stoneware clay, fired once, glazed in warm, reassuring (and non toxic!) plum colour, and raku fired for the beautiful effects of smoke and flame.

Jizo is a Japanese Shinto spirit, a kami who found his way to Japan through Buddhism. He is a guardian of women, children, and travellers; he comforts us through grief and bereavement.

Through my work, I hope to bring a little nature, peace, and gentleness into the world. I make all of my pieces entirely by hand with only non-toxic material.
