- HOW TO CARE FOR SILVER JEWELRY: Our silver plated settings are double silver plated over copper base metal - no nickel, no lead. In order to ensure the beauty of silver plated jewelry, proper care must be maintained. Sulfur and other airborne chemicals are the main cause of tarnish. Silver tarnishes much faster if it's left out in the open air for extended periods of time. All of this can be easily avoided by placing your jewelry in airtight baggies when not being worn. By doing so, your silver jewelry will maintain its beautiful, shiny quality with little to no discoloration. As with all sterling silver and sterling silver plated components, jewelry should be polished with a jewelry cloth every six months. Never use paper towels as this could potentially scratch the silver.
