Fused Glass Decorative Plate - Orange, Blue, White, Black

This plate was made using the Pattern Bar Melt technique. So what is it? You take strips of class alternating lighter/darker colors and tack fuse them (just enough so the glass sticks together). The bars you’ve created are then cut into chunks (using a wet saw)
and placed/arranged in a circular form and fused at a higher temperature than usual (1550F vs 1470F) to make sure all the chunks of glass flow together properly.  You end up with a flat blank whose edges need to be ground smooth and the entire disk will need to be “Fire Polished” (heated up enough so the surface melts) so that the cold worked edge becomes shiny. Finally, the blank gets “slumped” into a ceramic plate mold and what you see here are the results.
