(4.4cm tall) Here is a lovely, gentle girl Jizo to bring some peace and comfort wherever they're needed. She feels full of joy and like she can share her kindness and compassion with the world. She would be wonderful for a Shinto shrine or anywhere!
She's made of stoneware clay, glazed for peace and tranquility, and raku fired for the beautiful effects of smoke and flame.
Jizo is a Japanese Shinto spirit, a kami who found his way to Japan through Buddhism. He (she, in this case) is a guardian of women, children, and travellers; he comforts us through grief and bereavement.
Through my work, I hope to bring a little nature, peace, and gentleness into the world. I make all of my pieces entirely by hand with only non-toxic material.
