Rare reproduction of Ipswich Lace #2, the only bobbin lace commercially produced in the early American Republic. Made from a pattern recreated by Karen Thompson, world's expert on this lace. Thompson has re-created patterns from original samples found in Alexander Hamilton's papers in the US Library of Congress.

This black silk lace has been made in 2023 as a demonstration piece at artisan fairs and other public presentations. Some of it was made on the dunes at Ipswich MA so that it would be officially Ipswich Lace.

Authentic Ipswich Lace, Massachusetts made.

This piece consists of 1 yard of continuous lace edging that is approximately 1.5 inches wide. This trim would be suitable for the bottom edge of a typical period shawl like that of Lucy Gallup Eldredge, Mrs. Israel Ashley, or the silk hood of Abigail Robbins, MFA Boston, if you were involved in reproduction clothing and reenactor activities.

Could be used for other contemporary clothing or decorative pieces as well.

Lace is complete and ready for shipping. An amazing and unique treasure for a re-enactor who cherishes authentic materials.
