The Norse God Odin had two ravens - Huginn (Thought) and Muninn (Memory) (Hugin and Munin-modern) who flew about the world, delivering messages, gathering knowledge and reporting back to him. These were, in fact, the first gods of premonitions. Huginn and Muninn are the premiere messengers of the supernatural world, they also symbolize secret knowledge.
The whole world wide, every morning,
Fly Huginn’s thoughts and Muninn’s memories;
Secrets convey, insight drawn
Ravens gods watch world wide
Odin, with his allies of solitude
Huginn and Muninn,
Are a Triad of silent scrutiny.
