WAITING FOR THE TOOTH FAIRY, etching, 5 inch by 8 inch,
Raven is a "trickster" in Native American stories and myths, he is sometimes a hero, a troublemaker, a glutton, a buffoon, a destroyer or a creator. The Trickster alternately scandalizes, disgusts, amuses, disrupts, chastises, and humiliates (or is humiliated by) humans.
Raven is extremely jealous of any entity that Human Beings hold in high regard. Over the years he has created doubt in the minds of Humans about mythic Beings such as the Easter Bunny and Santa Claus. He knows they are seasonal spirits and easily disproved. But the one Spirit creature that is the most persistent problem is the Tooth Fairy. It appears at all times of the year and it frustrates Raven. Raven has collected a hoard of children's teeth and is waiting to put an end to this pest. In this instance, Raven is a troublemaker.
